Pilar Sánchez Bellosta
I am a DPhil candidate in the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) at the University of Oxford. My research is generously supported by Nuffield College and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). My doctoral research investigates the macro-level factors that shape state decisions on women’s rights legislation, employing a quantitative and comparative approach. More specifically, I am interested in policies addressing violence against women, reproductive rights and gender electoral quotas.
Prior to starting my DPhil at Oxford, I graduated with honours from Carlos III University of Madrid, where I completed a dual Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology. I also studied a two-year Master’s in Social Sciences from the Carlos III-Juan March Institute, with a focus on comparative political economy and quantitative methods. Alongside my academic work, I have served as a teaching assistant for undergraduate methodology courses, and I recently co-authored a paper on the international factors influencing the legalisation of medical abortion.
